I have a penchant to write interesting side characters. While I love the main romance (since it is the reason I’m writing the book), any book that peeks at side characters usually has me hooked on their eventual romances as well. For some reason, many of my characters have outrageous, interesting, funny friends.
I’m not complaining. I rush to write scenes featuring characters like these. They’re the most fun -- especially the ones determined not to fall in love. That’s almost like a challenge!
Hannah and Rob will be a great challenge to write. They have a history, one which ended badly, but neither is over the other. Plus, now that their best friends (Colleen and Dan) are hooking up, they have no choice but to see each other. Ah, I foresee awkward but fun times ahead for those two. I’ll take great pride writing the happily ever after to their tale.
Do you become as attached to characters in books as I do? Do you look for the romances of characters you know and love?
Authors, do you have any side characters who insist that their books be told?
Here's the blurb for Never a Princess, Always a Frog:

Has this frog finally found her prince?
From the moment Colleen confesses her deepest desire -- to experience the same passion she’s read about in books -- she is swept away on the most daring escapade she’s ever experienced. Dressed in nothing but green paint, she attends a Halloween party searching for the man of her dreams. She finds him, but then fears she won’t be able to give him up.
Since the death of his wife five years ago, Dan’s life has been on auto-pilot. But from the moment he meets Colleen, he starts to feel alive again. And he knows he can’t let this would-be princess stride out of his life…
