2010 was a dream come true year for me and a year I will always remember. I sold my first short story, I was thrown into the business of publishing and made too many new friends to count.
I wrote my ass off this year and secured 6 contracts, three of them releasing in 2011. I have learned a lot about publishers and royalties and editing but most importantly I have learned a lot about myself as a writer. Where I want to go, who I want to get there with and it is amazing to see my progress as a writer with every manuscript I have submitted.
2010 would not have been half as successful without the support and guidance of my fellow friends and writers.
Babes, you know you can count on me whenever you need a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold you up or a joke to make you laugh.
Erin and Janine! My fellow TRW members. Our time together has been special...why? Because we can actually see each other face to face! Something that is not common in my writing world.
And of course, my wonderful and brilliant CP, Lindsay Below! It has been wonderful sharing in our success and wallowing in our failures!! I hope to do so for many, many, many years to come!
2011 is going to be even bigger and even better. I have been keeping up with my 12 goals in 12 months plan but those have been smaller, more tangible goals that I set from month to month. What I need to do is set up some long-term goals that will take my hopeful career to the next level.
1. I have signed up for the Editpalooza workshop with Savvy Authors. Beginning January 1st, I will be participating in a month long edit-fest trying to improve and polish my novel Fire and Icing. By the end of the month I hope to have a sparkling manuscript that I can submit. I do have submission goals but I am going to keep those to myself for now!!
2. I have three full-length novels swirling around in my head right now. It's a tall order but I hope to complete all three by the end of the year. Not necessarily polished and submission worthy, well maybe one of them, but at least first draft ready.
3. I want print! Doesn't every author? So 2011 is going to take me closer to my dream. Whether it be one of my new ideas or even Fire and Icing, I will seriously be pursuing my print goal. This doesn't mean I won't continue to put out books in the e-market but it's time to kick up the writing game a notch or two or five.
4. Be the best VP I can be lol! Passionate Ink members look out because your Board of Directors has been infiltrated by Canadians.
5. Attend the RWA conference in New York City. This will probably be the most likely failed goal of the year but it is still something I would really like to do. There is still time to plan and save.
6. And lastly, be a wife lol. My husband has put up with a lot of rants, ravings, lonely nights and stress all so I can pursue my dream. I hope to make a conscious effort to manage my time so that I can be part of the living instead of glued to my laptop. It will either be this goal or the writing goals that will win out and it will be interesting to see which one!! I apologize in advance to my husband!
I am sure I will set and pursue more goals as the year progresses but for now this is what I hope to accomplish.
Good luck with your own goals! Happy New Year!!

Hunk or Junk? Joe Manganiello
Oh, lord! You don't have to be a fan of HBO's Trueblood to admire the beauty and sexiness of this man. Joe Manganiello plays the role of Alcide Herveaux. To be honest, I much prefer this man to ASkars. And honestly, wouldn't you like that body prowling over yours....
So what do you think? Joe Manganiello? Hunk or Junk?

Bye Bye Christmas!
Oh, the holidays are over!
I am super happy because all of the family obligation stuff is behind me. Super happy because Santa was very good to me this year and well, because I still have a full week off from my day job (:
But with the holidays over that means no more chocolates hanging around. No more Christmas tree and white lights. The spirit of Christmas is now gone and the real world is slowly settling back in. Which means time to get back to work on writing and planning for 2011.
I have a busy year ahead of me already with releases and my duties for Passionate Ink so I have no idea how I am going to cram in a day job, submitting a novel and possibly writing two more novels. And let's not forget trying to be social and not hide in my cave and ignore the living lol I am going to need some wake-up pills.
I will be posting my goals for 2011 on New Years Day, so check back to see how I plan to torture myself for the next few months.

Hunk or Junk? Kristoffer Polaha
I have to admit that I am a fan of the tv show Life Unexpected. I am an even bigger fan of Kristoffer Polaha. This wonderful piece of man candy plays Nate Bazile.
Gina's Pick: Hunk!! He has a great smile, he has the All-American look and he is forever going to be the screw up that you can't take home to your parents who is always so much more attractive than the nice guy. And the last picture sealed the deal for me, the scruff, oh the scruff.

I'm not ready for you Xmas!!
Well, I can't believe the holidays have arrived. I am completely unprepared.
Usually I bake hundreds of cookies, have all my shopping done a couple of weeks ahead of time and even sometimes host the family. This year, I haven't baked one cookie, half of my gifts are still sitting on my list without a line through them and well, at least I am off the hook for hosting the family.
Why am I unprepared you ask? The pox!! I was struck with chicken pox at the tender age of 30! CHICKEN POX!! Still can't believe it...lol So instead of preparing for the holidays I was in bed with calamine lotion all over my body and popping benadryl like it was candy. The only good thing to come out of the situation..I caught up on my reading. 10 books in two weeks. Not bad.
I am now feeling 100% and have a couple of days to complete my to-do list.
Everyone else ready?? I hope so!

Cupcake Friday: Snowman Cupcakes
These are a perfect treat if you have children. And even if you don’t, who doesn’t like marshmallows?
Snowman Cupcakes
Bake a standard vanilla or chocolate cupcakes and top with Sweet Meringue Buttercream.
Snowman Cupcake How-To
This snowman wears a fine winter hat: a chocolate-covered mint beret. His plump figure is two marshmallows -- cut a slice off the top one and squish to make it smaller. Dabs of icing hold parts together. His eyes are chocolate sprinkles (poke holes first with a wet toothpick), and his nose is cut from a gummy fish.

Hunk or Junk? A Vampire Diaries Showdown!
Are you Team Damon or Team Stefan?
I am definitely an Ian Somerhalder fan. Not that Paul Wesley is junk, he just doesn' have that bad boy, sex-on-a-stick, I'm-going-to-bite-you-and-you're-going-to-like-it thing that I just happen to love.
Gina's Pick: Iam Somerhalder!! Hunk!

Coming Soon: The Only Exception
Releasing January 21st from Breathless Press
The Only Exception
Two co-workers, one work retreat, and explosive chemistry.
For Caroline Carlson, business is business. She will not let her profession define her. She’ll never make that mistake again. When she finds herself forced to attend a manager’s retreat in the middle of winter, the line between business and pleasure is blurred. Especially, since she’s forced to spend the time with Hayden, the man who has secured the starring role in her sexy dreams.
Hayden Cross is the new manager on the block. The retreat is a chance to let loose and get away from the daily grind. Until one night when a chance encounter with Caroline at a club morphs his plan into a personal dare. Mesmerized by the sexy woman writhing on the dance floor, he knows she's his fantasy come to life.
Caroline is convinced that Hayden is just another man who wants the fantasy, but his sexual advances are too hard to ignore. The more time they spend together the hotter it gets, and the Canadian winter doesn't stand a chance.
Excerpt:
Joel grabbed her key card from the clerk then led her up to the second floor. Rich burgundy carpet led the way to her room.
"I promise. You are going to love it up here," Joel said as he looked over his shoulder at her.
He used his free hand to slide the key card into its slot. "If you need anything just—"
Before he had a chance to finish she heard her name called from the right. Her stomach flipped at the sound.
Hayden. On the same floor. In the very next room. They would be separated by only a few layers of drywall and paint.
He approached with an easy, confident stride, the smile on his face a mile wide. She willed the butterflies in her stomach to stop fluttering about in excitement.
"You're finally here." He was waiting for her?
He stopped at the edge of the wall, crowding her, forcing her to conjure up what little will power she had against his smile. A smile that had never been directed at her, until now.
"It took a little longer to get here than I thought."
He gave Joel stern look then slipped a bill into his hand. "I can get that stuff." He cocked his head toward the elevator. Joel returned Hayden's stare. They were like two peacocks showing off their feathers. And it looked like Hayden won this round.
Joel turned to her. "Like I said, if you need anything just let me know."
"We'll be fine," Hayden answered.
Joel let out a snide laugh and then walked away.
Hayden grabbed her bags from the cart, and she warmed at the sight of his bicep, smooth and hard, flexing under the sleeve of his t-shirt. A flash of her own naked leg thrust against it knocked the breath from her chest. With one move, the memory of hot Joel had been erased.
"You don't have to do that."
"I know." He took the opportunity to burst through the already open door and drop her bags on the bed. "I had to see for myself."
He walked further into the room toward the door that obviously led to his room. How was she ever going to stop these dreams? The prospect of him lying naked in his bed thirty feet away from her was too much to handle.
"We have adjoining rooms?"
"Looks like it." He unlocked the door between her room and his, opened it, and stepped through.
For the sake of her own curiosity, like Hayden, she needed to confirm with her own two eyes. She followed and peeked into his room.
"This could be fun." He gave her a devilish smirk.
She couldn't help but smile back. Standing on the other side of the room with his hands in the front pockets of his jeans and his shoulders shrugged, he looked like a child.
"I don't think Vernon's intention is for us to have fun." She cleared her throat and grabbed the edge of the door. "This itinerary seems like torture to me."
His blue eyes locked with hers. "I'm sure we can find something interesting to do to help us survive."
Heat pulsed through her body in waves, rolling over her like an atomic blast. If only she could believe that he meant the sub-text hidden in his comment. That the "something interesting" consisted of the two of them spending the entire four days lying in the huge bed that she refused to look at.
Knowing his gaze would make her do silly, regretful things, she broke eye contact and headed to her bed.
"Looking forward to spending a night under the stars?" His voice tingled along her back.
"I'm all for a night under the stars but give me a beer and a beach, not a tuque and Gore-Tex."
She thought she would be locking him out of her room from the side door. Instead, he stepped back into her room.
"I didn't peg you as the adventurous type. Although"—he closed her side of the door"—"you almost had me changing my mind last night."
"I like adventure," she spat. She settled on the farthest side of the bed and opened her bag. She hoped she could get away without him acknowledging the club. No such luck.
"I saw you at the bar last night." His eyes travelled down the length of her body, leaving her to think dirty, sexy things. She shook those thoughts out of her head when he spoke again. "You ran away from me."
"I didn't run." She was quick to defend herself. Even though her defense was flimsy. "I was on my way out. My friends were waiting for me at the coat check."
"Of course." He eyed her with a strange look. Something between lustful and indifferent. "You don't like me do you?"
Her breath caught. She never expected him to be so forward. "I don't really know you." Straightening out some of the clothes in her bag, she continued, "You don't talk to me at work for me to get to know you."
"You don't talk to me at work!" he barked. "You don't talk to anyone unless it's business related."
She recoiled but only for a second. Caroline had always figured that if people wanted to talk to her they would make the effort. But after all this time, maybe she should have been the one to make the effort. Did it matter? She wasn't looking for friends anyway. "Work is a place of business, not a social playground."
"You're pretty uptight, Caroline." He moved closer. Close enough that she could smell his fresh scent. It reminded her of the few times he peeked into her office with a question. When he left, she could smell nothing but his cologne. "By the end of this trip I'll get you to like me." She hoped he didn't hear her quiet squeak when he leaned in even closer. "I promise."

Cupcake Friday: Holly Cupcakes
The holiday season is creeping up on us. Have you started to think about what you’re going to bake this year?
Every December I spend hours upon hours baking hundreds of cookies for Christmas. I give them away to friends and co-workers and always have enough left over for Christmas dessert. I will admit, I have never made cupcakes for Christmas. ): But this idea, courtesy of my Martha Stewart, seems easy and appropriate.
Holly Cupcakes
Bake a standard chocolate or vanilla cupcake topped to Swiss Meringue Buttercream and then add your Holly.
Swiss Meringue Buttercream:
Ingredients
Makes about 9 cups, enough for about 28 cupcakes
2 1/2 cups sugar
10 large egg whites
4 cups (8 sticks or 2 pounds) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Directions
1. Place sugar and egg whites in the heat-proof bowl of an electric mixer. Set bowl over a pan of gently simmering water, and whisk until sugar has dissolved and egg whites are hot to the touch, about 3 minutes. Test by rubbing the mixture between your fingers; it should feel completely smooth.
2. Transfer bowl to mixer stand. Using the whisk attachment, beat on high speed until mixture has cooled completely and formed stiff and glossy peaks, about 10 minutes.
3. Add the butter, one piece at a time, and beat until incorporated after each addition. Don't worry if the buttercream appears curdled after all the butter has been added; it will become smooth again with continued beating. Add vanilla, and beat just until combined.
4. Switch to the paddle attachment, and beat on the lowest speed to eliminate any air pockets, about 5 minutes. If using buttercream within several hours, cover bowl with plastic wrap, and set aside at room temperature in a cool environment. Or transfer to an airtight container, and store in the refrigerator, up to 3 days. Before using, bring buttercream to room temperature, and beat on the lowest speed with the paddle attachment until smooth, about 5 minutes.
Holly Cupcake How-To
Chewy candies come in lots of shapes, and they're just the right size for decorating cupcakes. Here, a trio of sour-cherry candies and a pair of sugar-frosted spearmint leaves (sliced to make them thinner) look like a sprig of holly in a drift of snow.

Enter contest today! Online Passionate Plume Entry Form.
Dec 6, 2010
My big news!! And a favor!
For those of you who haven't already heard, I will be taking on the role of Vice President for the Erotic Romance chapter of the RWA, Passionate Ink.
I am excited and scared to death. Nervous but ready to get started.
So for the first matter of unofficial business, because I don't take on the role until January, I am on the hunt. I need judges. I need readers and writers to judge the Sixth Annual Passionate Plume Contest. This is the only published erotic romance contest of its kind. These are published works!! Essentially, free books!!
The entry deadline closes January 21st, so you can expect to start reading by February. A normal packet of entries consists of 5 novels or 7 novells but if you are willing to read more....that is always a good thing.
So what do you say? If you are interested please email me at pp6.coordinator@gmail.com

New Release: An Everlasting Bite by Stacey Kennedy
It is my pleasure to announce the release of An Everlasting Bite by my friend, and fellow Canadian, Stacey Kennedy!! It is first installment of The Blue Bloods series.
Love is born between strangers, yet built upon a bond soul deep--one Alpha's vow to protect his mate from looming danger, all the while, mending her soul and stirring her wolfish desires.
A vicious werewolf attack in Plymouth, Minnesota leaves a young woman violated, bitten and now, transformed into werewolf. But Rynn Murphy doesn't have to face this transformation alone---she has her mate by her side. And the charming Briggs--Beta to the Patriarch, Valor--is eager to ease her into this new life and mend her battered soul.
With only weeks to adjust to her new fur, Rynn, follows Briggs while he assists in locating the daughter of the Montana's Alpha, who was abducted from her home. But this journey is not without danger. And soon, they discover the ones who have taken this young wolf do not want her found and will stop at nothing to keep her hidden. Or so it may seem, as bodies begin to drop around them, the murderous attempts start to appear more as a hit than a smoke screen---leaving only one question, who is the intended target...

Meet Stacey:
My novels are lighthearted fantasy, heart squeezing, thigh-clenching romance, and even give a good chuckle every now and again. My journey as a writer began as a way to keep my brain alive since being a stay at home mom can be a little let's say--numbing. It was an escape from screaming kids, dirty diapers and plain old /mom duty/. It started as a hobby, but as the stories progressed it became a passion. Now, I indulge at nap time, especially the juicy bits! Every mom needs a good thrill!

Cupcake Friday: Christmas Tree Cupcakes
For the month of December I am going to feature holiday themed cupcakes.
These Christmas Tree cupcakes are cute and festive. If you have some time on your hands why not give them a try?

Christmas Tree Cupcakes
Ingredients
• 12 waffle cones (2 to 2 1/2 inches wide and 4 to 5 inches long)
• 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, perferably Dutch-process
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
• 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
• 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 3/4 teaspoon coarse salt
• 2 large eggs
• 1 1/2 cups warm water
• 3/4 cup buttermilk
• 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
• Frosting for Christmas Tree Cupcakes (recipe below)
• Fine sanding sugar, for sprinkling
Directions
1. Makes 1 dozen. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Invert two 9 1/2-by-3-inch disposable round foil baking pans. Using a craft knife or a paring knife, cut six X shapes in bottom of each, spacing them evenly, to make 1 1/2-inch openings. Fit a waffle cone snugly into each opening, standing the cones upright. Line each cone with parchment paper, and then place a dried bean or a hazelnut in bottom to prevent batter from leaking. Place pans and cones on parchment-lined baking sheets. Line a 12-cup mini-muffin tin with paper liners.
2. Whisk together cocoa powder, flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk together eggs, warm water, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla in a medium bowl. With a mixer on low speed, gradually add egg mixture to flour mixture, beating until just combined. Raise speed to medium, and beat for 3 minutes. Carefully pour batter into cones, filling each two-thirds full. Spoon 1 1/2 tablespoons batter into each muffin cup (these will be the tree bases).
3. Bake until a skewer inserted into center of cake comes out clean, 15 to 18 minutes for cupcakes and 35 minutes for cones. Let cakes cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove cakes from cones and parchment. Let cool completely on the rack. (Cakes can be wrapped in plastic and stored at room temperature for up to 3 days before assembling.)
4. If necessary, use a serrated knife to trim top of each cupcake to create a flat surface. Place a dab of frosting on top of each cupcake, and position a cone cake on top. Insert toothpick through each cupcake base and into "tree" to support it (remember to remove toothpick before eating). Place frosting in a pastry bag fitted with a small star tip (such as Ateco #3) or a small plain 1/8-inch tip, and pipe frosting decoratively all over tree. Sprinkle with sanding sugar. Trees can be refrigerated, uncovered, for up to 6 hours before serving.
Snowy Frosting
Ingredients
Makes 2 cups, enough for 12 trees
• 16 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
• 3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar, sifted
• 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Directions
1. Beat cream cheese with a mixer on medium speed until very smooth, 3 to 4 minutes. Add sugar, and beat for 2 minutes. Beat in vanilla. Use immediately.

Update from Gina Gordon
It has been an entire month since I've rambled on about myself.
The Lingerie Blog Event was a huge success and I hope all of you enjoyed it. Thank you to all of my participants!!
Since we are at the beginning of a new month I should probably do a 12 Goals in 12 Months update.
October was another bust for me. I did not complete Bound In Lingerie by the end of the month but I do some plotting for Nanowrimo. However, November was a very productive month. I had to abandon my dreams of completing Nanowrimo but only because it was imperative that I complete and submit Bound In Lingerie. Which I did!
For the month of December, I am not going to kid myself and expect to accomplish alot. The holiday's are a very hectic time so my goal will be to write as much as I can and read! Cheesy goal, I know, but at least I can accomplish it lol
