12 Days of Sexy Times-Day 3: Isobael Liu

My favorite sex scenes have to include “real words”. What I mean is no purple prose, no “his throbbing man sword slid into her steaming love tunnel”. (LOL. I actually cringed even writing the example!)

What gets me all hot and bothered are descriptive scenes that are real. I want to put myself in the heroine’s place, POV, and BE her during those intimate moments, and I can’t do it if I’m being jarred out of the story by “odd phrasings”.

I also want love scenes. That’s why I bought the book! I don’t want a hint at it, I don’t want a gloss over, I want to read what’s going on. It doesn’t have to be a play by play, or an instruction manual, but it does have to be actual scenes in the book. It’s a letdown for me to come to the erotic moment of the romance and there’s no erotic moment!

So, who do I turn to for those juicy reads? For the time being, I’m devouring Christine Feehan’s Carpathian/Dark series. The love scenes, for me, are juicy, steamy, and those Carpathian males are so intense, seductive, and to die for. *squirm*

There’s no one book that stands out in my mind in the way of favorite sex scene. Each book has different characters and situations, so each love scene is all its own. Although, the premise behind the scenes are the same; hero needs heroine with an instinct beyond lust. She is his other half, the compassion, the joy and laughter he needs. This is the culmination of their joining, both heart, body, and soul.

I think, for me, that’s the biggest turn on and what makes my juices flow. Sex is great. I’m all for it, but there’s got to be a reason for it. I don’t want to read a book about two people meeting and jumping into the sack together just for the hell of it. Heck, I don’t even need a book for that. I’ll just pop a porn into the DVD player! In a world of “Give it to me NOW!” instant gratification, I want something more. I want a reason, some underlying emotion that draws them together, some situation that drives them into bed together. It has to MEAN something. I guess I’m a romantic at heart. =)

Feehan’s books do it for me. When a man needs a woman that much, has everything to gain and his soul to lose, how can you not fall for him?

You can find the list of books in the series at http://www.christinefeehan.com/dark_series/index.php

There’s 20 books in the series! My favorites are Dark Desire, Dark Gold, Dark Magic, Dark Fire, Dark Guardian, and Dark Secret. To me, the Carpathians are the most intense, and I do love those intense males, the ones closer to their predatory side, the ones walking that fine line of man vs beast (Ok, so maybe I’m not all that a romantic at heart! LOL).

They are all stand alone books, meaning you don’t HAVE to read the ones prior to, but it’s a good idea to just read them all. *Grin*

Enjoy! I know I do (and the hubby has no complaints when I read these books, either! *evil grin*)!
