Another one of my favorite things...

I am discussing some of my favorite things in honor of the release of Her Five Favorite Words on April 2nd.

What is sweet, petite and the focus of one of my current works in progress? A cupcake.

I really can't explain it but there is something about a cupcake that sparks my interest. Is it the size, the shape or the endless possibilities of flavor and color? Is it the fact that they can be tailored to fit any occasion or event? Probably all of the above. They are little cakes filled with cheer because you would have to be dead inside if a cupcake didn't brighten your day.

This is a good opportunity for me to introduce the work in progress mentioned above. Fire and Icing. It's the story of Jake and Liv. Liv is a novice bakery owner and Jake is an executive at a publishing house willing to do anything for a promotion. So when Jake's boss asks him to do what he does best, charm a woman, he jumps at the chance to get close to Liv in order to secure his rise up the corporate ladder.

I am about halfway through the manuscript. I won't give away any more details but I will say I have found some pretty interesting uses for butter cream icing that have nothing to do with baking.

Tomorrow, another one of my favorite things. Hint: They are a band from Tennessee, they are all under the age of 25 and they are most known for being the band that sings that song from Twilight.
